Supply Chain Management | The Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM) has joined the Public Procurement Authority to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Commerce Edge Advisory Services of South Africa to provide a comprehensive Certification and Licensing Programme for Public Procurement Practitioners in Ghana.
The Institute, currently the only professional body in Ghana championing the training and certification of Supply Chain Professionals was represented by Mr. Fred Kukah, Mrs. Hannah Boahemaa Otu, who are members of the working team of the Institute, Miss Yayra Ahelegbe from the CISCM Secretariat and Mr Richard Asante-Amoah a Council member of the Institute and a Management Consultant.
Key deliverable of the MoU includes the development of a formal local supply chain qualification for Ghana; Certification of Local Practitioners and Work based integration programmes.
The rest are: integration of online platforms, Procurement Supply Competency Assessment Tools, Short courses and Work-based integration, Publication of Procurement Journals and the organisation of an Annual West African Procurement and Enterprise Development Summit.

At the signing ceremony in Accra, Mr Agyenim Boateng Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of PPA, said the collaboration would strengthen the implementation of section (3) K of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) as amended, which enjoins the PPA to develop, promote and support training and professional development of persons engaged in the public procurement and ensure adherence by the trained persons to ethical standards.
Other professional bodies present were the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS).

Mr Richard Asante-Amoah in an exclusive interaction with the Communications team of CISCM said, it was welcoming that the PPA had recognized the role of professional bodies in the field of Supply Chain Management adding that the Institute was ever ready to collaborate with the Authority to make relevant contributions to not just procurement issues but in all streams of Supply Chain Management
